After reading the news that she was randomly going to Colombia, I was a bit skeptical. But I did some more research from a Colombia newspaper called El Tiempo. Here's what you should know.

- Hilary Duff has been designated ambassador for the youth of the city of Bogota.

- She will be in Colombia from August 1 - August 5.

- She will be promoting her charity, "Blessing in a Backpack" in district school and community diners.

- She will be extending her charity plans to a new project campaigning the importance of vaccination.

- Negotiations have been made with the mayor of the city. He explains that feeding campaigns in Bogota have motivated Hilary to bring her project there. I'm not really sure what that means, really.

- Also, from the comments at the newspaper website, it seems many Colombian fans are angry at her and the mayor is stupid. This is because of an incident from 2005, where Hilary cancelled the only South American leg she has ever had on a tour and promised to reschedule new dates. She never returned to South America for a concert (Brazil excluded.)

Thats so stupid, I'm sure she had a valid reason not to be able to go. Isn't that stuff up to her management and people anyway?
They should be grateful she is coming now for this good cause.

Eh I'd be mad too if I had been promised rescheduled tour dates.

This is a good cause & all, but I'm wondering where this fits into her GG arc. Is she going to not be in one episode or something?

I'd love it if she did a surprise concert or something. I doubt it but it'd be nice.

The mayor confirmed that she will be there between August 1 and August 15. No word on how long she will be there.

Mayor of Bogota is naming her the guest of honor and official ambassador for the cause.

The mayor also adds: "She will bring journalists and the media with her at the international level, which is wonderful, because it will allow the world to know the progress in society that Bogota has made in the past few years."

Duff assures the mayor in a letter that she is more than willing to help out for this cause.

A friend in Colombia right now said that he actually heard about a surprise concert now that you mention it. But I really really doubt it.

That would be awesome but yeah, doubtful. She'd have to rehearse, bring a band with her, pick a setlist, etc.

IF she was to perform, do you think it might help her get back into making music quicker? She'll be up there thinking "god I miss doing this so much... I should start heading into the studio and getting an album out there"
